A parish-based community of spiritual and ministry formation serving the Anglican Church
With joy and anticipation, Anglican School of Ministry announces the appointment of its new (interim) Dean and President, the Reverend Art Going.
Rev. Going is a 30 year veteran of parish ministry and an Anglican Church planter, who has been working in leadership development and pastoral training for many years.
The new President reports, “Through the generosity of several donors and the Mission Council of PEAR-USA, ASM has recently been placed on a sound financial footing for many years to come. I look forward to taking the school forward and to serving a growing and unified Anglicanism all across North America. ASM’s vision for parish-based spiritual formation and ministry training is now stronger than ever.”
Rev. Going noted that sign-ups for summer classes will begin the 15th March, and that ASM’s teaching activities through its fine faculty will continue on exactly as before.
Rev. Going reports that in recent conversations with out-going President Henry Baldwin, that Rev. Baldwin is enjoying his new assignment as Executive Pastor at Holy Cross Anglican, in the Anglican Diocese of the South. This assignment is the joyful culmination of years of theological, ministerial, and practical experience for him. ASM wishes Rev. Baldwin all the best in his new role!
ASM looks forward to continuing on with its vision, as well as new expanded roles in partnerships around the country. ASM will also be relocating its home offices to North Carolina where Rev. Art and his wife Nancy will soon be residing. Of course, ASM will remain, as always, fully internet accessible.

ASM & the Anglican ChurchAt ASM we have a number of programs which fit a variety of theological training needs in the Church. The majority of the courses offered by ASM are delivered by videoconferencing, blogging, and net-conferencing, so you can participate from anywhere, even when on travel. Below are just a few study "tracks" for you to consider. Others are possible.

"Being a part of ASM has been a true blessing for me. Working full time with 2 kids in their late teens and early twenties and then also having 2 more kids under the age of 10, a traditional seminary based education would have been difficult. ASM’s approach to ministry education was such a welcome change. More importantly it helped to stay within my already busy schedule. I couldn’t have asked for more friendly, knowledgeable, and accessible teachers and support staff. They have been very helpful with all of my questions as I have progressed along with them. I originally started out with the Certificate of Diaconal Studies, and used that as the spring board to my becoming a Deacon. I am now using ASM and its new Masters of Ministry program to help further my career as I seek to become a Chaplain working with the Veterans Health System. The education and knowledge that ASM has provided me has enabled me to further my current ministry work within my parish, online through Face Book, and has helped me in the writing of two books. ASM and its great cadre of teachers and students have helped fan the fires of my passion and devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ. I can’t wait to see where God will lead me as I pursue my Masters with ASM.

Being a full-time OB/GYN certainly made the prospect of being educated by the customary seminary route impossible for me! I could not take 3 years leave of absence from my practice to pursue that goal. Dedicated weekend training was one route I pursued to completion. However, it was the distance learning offered by ASM that made the impossible possible.... I was able to take the coursework for diaconal training offered on-line and via conference calling and Skype/WebEx classes. The ASM requirement for one-on-one mentoring really made a huge difference in the educational experience. Practical answers to common ministry questions and concern for my spiritual growth were welded into a unique, satisfying educational experience that was challenging and well-rounded. The content was rigorously first class and the lively classroom experience with fellow students from all over the USA and international students made learning thoroughly enjoyable. The opportunity to participate in intensive one-on-one training offered at the Pre-Winter Conference classes was invaluable and provided marvelous occasions to spend time with classmates, professors and instructors in person. Earning the Certificate in Diaconal Studies from ASM was the way for me to be able to become fully equipped as a bi-vocational minister: first as Deacon and now as Presbyter. When God calls He provides a means to answer the call. ASM was His means to educate my Head, Heart and Hands for Kingdom work while fulfilling my responsibilities as a physician.
"Having studied at Westminster Theological Seminary and Dallas Theological I have found the Anglican School of Ministry to be on par with these schools. In addition ASM has the advantage of a rich history of faculty scholarship. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to learn in a school that not only teaches but lives the gospel."

"What a blessing it is been for me to attend ASM! Do not let the low cost tuition fool you into thinking this is a subpar education. Having obtained a masters degree from another institution I can tell you that ASM is a quality program. The coursework has been both challenging and rewarding. I am looking forward to continuing my education with ASM."
Terry Shott, MA (Counseling), is a former ASM student. Terry is a licensed counselor in Rogers, Arkansas and attends St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church in Springdale, Arkansas.
"The Anglican School of Ministry has been and continues to be a blessing to me. As I am already involved in local parish ministry, ASM affords me the opportunity to pursue my Certificate in Diaconal Studies while continuing to serve in my home church. The classes are beneficial and challenging, and the instructors are passionately dedicated to top-notch instruction in their various fields. This school truly is one of the amazing gems of Anglican Mission!"
