Foundations for Christian Ministry
(Continuing Education Level)
Introduction: The Foundations for Christian Ministry program offers courses in Bible, Theology, and Ministry at the continuing education level. There is no set program of study—students can take as many courses as they wish. Certificates of Achievement are available.
Program Goal: The goal of the Foundations for Christian Ministry program is to provide fully-equipped lay leaders for effective Gospel-centered ministry in the Anglican Church by providing high quality Christian education to students in their local congregations. The program is especially designed for candidates for licensed lay ministry. It also is suitable for pastors desiring continuing education for maintaining ministry proficiency.

Course Structure: Foundations courses are all graded on a pass/fail basis and are available in three formats—local residency, WebEx, and weekend seminar.
Course Descriptions: Other courses will be added in the future. Our current 2011-2012 offerings include the following.
FOU 001 Old Testament introduces the student to God's word as human words and provides a basic understanding of OT literature and structure. The long range perspective of the study focuses on Jesus as Messiah and atoning sacrifice. 18 ce hours.
FOU 002 New Testament presents the individual perspectives of NT authors while developing the theme of each book. Students observe the fulfillment of OT prophesy and become acquainted with the theological vocabulary of the NT. 18 ce hours.
FOU 003 Theology is an orderly summary of the great doctrines in light of Scripture and historic Church teachings. It will discuss the nature of theological study and Christian beliefs. 18 ce hours.
FOU 004 Church History highlights the individuals who most influenced Christianity from the perspective of their cultural context. The development of doctrine, church government and worship will be explored. 18 ce hours.
FOU 005 Anglican Worship is an introduction to our rich liturgical heritage. The course examines the church calendar, the Sacraments, and the practical aspects of worship. 18 ce hours.
FOU 006 Anglicanism introduces the historic background of the Church of England and presents the 39 Articles of Religion, the Lambeth Quadrilateral and the Solemn Declaration of the Anglican Mission. The four Anglican traditions (Anglo-Catholic, Evangelical, Charismatic, and Liberal) are discussed.

FOU 007 Introduction to Anglicanism. 18 ce hours. (FOU 007 is equivalent to and takes the place of FOU 006a & 006b)
