A parish-based community of spiritual and ministry formation serving the Anglican Church
There are 130 million unreached people in a multitude of cultural groupings in North America.
Missiologists, as well as church history, tell us the most effective outreach is done by planting churches which are cultural near to people groups.
In the next 8 years the AMiA/ACNA and other Anglican bodies have as a goal to plant 1000 such new churches.
Where will the trained and prepared leaders to develop these churches come from? The Great Commission depends on the answer!
There are a handful of brick-and-mortar schools which are producing leaders. They are doing a great job! They are an essential element in the overall picture of leadership development. But their total output won't even begin to keep pace with population growth. Further, only those who can afford such training and can uproot their lives for three to five years and study at these schools can participate.
For less than the cost of sending two missionary families overseas, ASM can train dozens of new leaders right in their own parish who are prepared to lead and/or support church planting teams.
How? By keeping the students in their parishes. We do this by using the latest in educational technology to offer real-time classes and creating virtual learning communities - and by working in conjunction with the local pastor to provide on-site mentoring and internships.
