A parish-based community of spiritual and ministry formation serving the Anglican Church
The ASM Story
Anglican School of Ministry (ASM) was birthed in a vision by its founding President, the Very Rev. Dr. Mark Quay, its first Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Hon. David Young, and a group of highly committed educators and clergy who shared the common goal of in-parish preparation of future leaders for the Anglican Mission in the Americas. Their efforts led to ASM’s establishment in 2007 under the auspices of the Little Rock Network of the Anglican Mission in the Americas (AMiA). It opened as the Anglican School of Ministry-Little Rock in the Fall semester of 2007 with seven students, two instructors, and two part-time staffers.
ASM quickly grew beyond the Little Rock Network, with students from California to the Netherlands and Uganda from multiple Anglican jurisdictions in addition to the AMiA. In recognition of this growth, ASM changed its name from Anglican School of Ministry-Little Rock, to its present name and became an independently incorporated Anglican theological school, though it still is under the episcopal oversight of an Anglican bishop.
Today, ASM has grown far beyond its small beginnings. In 2012, the student population is more than 125. They represent many churches, including the AMiA, the ACNA, and non-Anglicans exploring the “Canterbury Trail.” There are 11 graduate-level instructors (10 holding terminal degrees) and three continuing education-level instructors, as well as three full-time and two part-time staff members.
