A parish-based community of spiritual and ministry formation serving the Anglican Church
The mission of Anglican School of Ministry is to partner with local parishes to develop Great Commission leaders.
The vision of Anglican School of Ministry is to see a dramatically increasing number of Great Commission leaders comprehensively developed in an ancient-future community.
Anglican School of Ministry is committed to Orthodox Anglican Doctrine, Integrated Ministry as Reflected in the Three Streams, Leadership Development in the Context of the Local Parish, Ministry Formation as Developed in the H3 Model, and Great Commission-Centered Ministry.
• Orthodox Anglican doctrine as summarized by—
o The three ecumenical creeds (Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds); o The dogmatic definitions of the ecumenical councils; o The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion, the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and its Ordinal; o The Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral.• Integrated Ministry as reflected in the Three Streams: Sacrament (Catholic), Scripture (Evangelical), and Spiritual (Charismatic)—
o There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God. (Ps. 46:4)o "One river, three streams: Catholic, Evangelical, and Pentecostal." (Bishop Lesslie Newbigin, The Household of God.) o The emphasis on Sacrament underscores our belief in the ongoing importance of the historic, catholic (universal) Christian faith, especially as seen in our instruction in liturgy and sacramental theology; o The priority of Scripture highlights our adherence to the Evangelical teaching that the Bible is God's inspired word and our authoritative rule for faith and life; o Finally, we believe that the Spirit of God continues to work today in the church and world, empowering us for ministry in accordance with Jesus’ Great Commandment and His Great Commission. o By seeking a balance between these three streams, ASM pursues a biblical testimony of Christ as we bear witness to God's grace and healing.• Leadership Development in context of the local parish which is—
o Flexible and responsive, meeting the unique needs of the students; o Excellent in every aspect: decision-making, policy implementation, and programs, always seeking to improve; o Measurably effective with quantifiable, Biblical ministry outcomes.• Ministry Formation as developed in the H3 Model of Ministry, providing high quality, excellent programs which prepare the Head, Heart, and Hands for Great Commission leadership in the church—
o Education for the mind (Head): Gaining knowledge and understanding in Bible, theology, and the theory of ministry by a combination of distance learning and short-residency courses; o Formation for the spirit (Heart): Growing in grace and wisdom through spiritual formation under the guidance of a mentor, leading to the development of Christ-likeness; o Training in practical skills necessary for ministry (Hands): Acquiring experience and wisdom in a variety of ministry settings through supervised internships.• Great Commission-centered ministry—
