A parish-based community of spiritual and ministry formation serving the Anglican Church

ASM is all about spiritual and ministry formation. Ministry is a character business. Ministry is about knowledge and skills that have been internalized and made one's own. It is not just information, but transformation. A big portion of how that happens is human-to-human contact, often with those who have "traveled the road before us." Hence, mentoring is an essential component of our Hand-Heart-Hands training.
Mentoring is a required component for all academic coursework and is an integral part of every program we offer. It is what moves mere theoretical knowledge (the head) to spiritual form formation (the heart) and then to ministry practice (the hands).
Mentoring is a conducted one-on-one in a personal atmosphere. The student is able to choose a mentor whom they trust and can confide in. A wide range of issues can be examined and discussed. At the same time, there is a directed curriculum, so a good balance of the serendipitous and the programed can be found. No two mentoring experiences will be exactly alike, but students report that mentoring is a highly profitable and meaningful part of the ASM community.
